A Big Thanks to the Facilities Crew

After a fantastic weekend like this past weekend, I want to call out a group of people who rarely get the recognition they deserve but are essential to the success of our athletic programs and the favorable reputation W&L enjoys – the Athletic Department facilities crews.

One of the highlights for me on Saturday – besides attending all the hard fought, intense games, and seeing some of the many alums who came back to visit – was being able to enjoy these games and these people in some of the best facilities in Division III, while sitting amidst the most picturesque scenery in the country.  I walked around the Duchossios Complex with an extra sense of pride as I listened to people exclaim about the beautiful fields, how fortunate we are to have them, as well as rave about the beauty of our surroundings. Fall in Lexington is certainly a gorgeous time of year, and then to sit in the stands at our wonderful facilities, on a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon… it doesn’t get much better than that!

What’s this got to do with the Athletic Department facilities crew?  Well, for the obvious reasons – our facilities would not look good or be in such great shape if it wasn’t for these folks.  They are the reason our facilities shine.  They clean, they mow, they line, they do laundry … they do it all so we can play, coach or just enjoy the contest, without worry or concern. And they do it all with a smile on their face and an offer to be of more help to you, if at all possible.  Their work, and their sincere interest in seeing our teams be successful, means a great deal to us and we don’t want to take their work for granted.

So, here’s a special word of thanks to all the members of the facilities crews in the Athletic Department.  Thanks for all you do for ALL of us. We couldn’t do it without you and we’re proud to have you on our team!
