Congratulations are in order for W&L assistant field hockey coach Tiffany Underhill, who Transylvania University just announced yesterday as its new head field hockey coach.

Tiffany arrived at W&L in July of 2007 from Keene State College, where she lettered in field hockey and softball and was a team captain in both sports. She helped both teams to a pair of conference titles and was a first team all-conference selection in field hockey in 2005. She then served as a student assistant coach for the field hockey team in 2006 and helped guide the Owls to an 18-5 record and another conference championship.

In her three seasons with the Generals, Tiffany has helped W&L compile a 31-23 overall record and a 15-6 record in ODAC play.  She also assisted Head Coach Wendy Orrison in the development of 11 all-conference players, including the program’s first All-American (Kendall Korte).

Tiffany will see at least one familiar face at the Lexington, Ky., school as she joins former W&L assistant volleyball coach Casey Dale, who currently serves as the Pioneers’ head volleyball coach after taking the position there last summer.  In his first season, Casey’s rebuilding efforts produced a 13-19 overall record and he was named one of the American Volleyball Coaches Associations top coaches under the age of 30.

Stay tuned to “From the Sidelines” in the near future as we attempt to have Tiffany and Casey produce guest blog entries about their experiences at the school located in “Little Lex”.
