Ahhh May is here!

So here we are … May.  May is always an awesome month for me.  The spring sports teams at W&L generally do very well and many qualify for NCAA Championship competition.  When teams qualify during the fall and winter seasons, their NCAA Tournament contests generally are taking place during the overlap of seasons and can sometimes be difficult to cover.  But the spring – well there is nothing else to keep an eye on.  All the other teams have completed their competition for the year and we are allowed to focus completely on how our teams do in the NCAA’s.

May brings with it excellent weather and, even while preparing for NCAA Championship competition, May also brings with it a peak at the light at the end of the tunnel.  No matter how well or how poor our remaining teams (Men’s Tennis, Women’s Tennis & Women’s Lacrosse) do in their respective championships, I know that all the athletic events for the 2009-2010 school year will be completed by May 29 when the NCAA Track & Field Championships end (never know, we could still have a few individuals qualify).  That is exactly 26 days from today!!  Don’t get me wrong, I love my job and I love watching the Generals play, but after eight months of games held seven days per week, I’m ready for a bit of a break.

In the meantime, we have several NCAA Tournament contests and the upcoming W&L Athletic Awards Ceremony to keep us plenty busy until the end of the month.  So while we begin to wrap up another fantastic year in W&L sports, think back on everything that has been accomplished over the past year.  So much has happened since my first blog entry way back on August 11, 2009.  Think about what your favorite sports moments have been from the past year.  I’ll make up my list in late May and release it to all of you at the beginning of June.  Until then, enjoy the weather and follow the Generals as they attempt to create some more memories over the next 26 days!
